On Saturday 5th October 2019 an excursion from Leicester to Carlisle was billed as "The North Briton". Unusually this train was to run out and back over the Settle-Carlisle line instead of the regular format that goes out on the S & C and returns via Newcastle (outskirts) and the ECML. To confuse matters, the train ran throughout showing "The Pennine Limited" headboard. The locomotive, 60163 TORNADO was perfect throughout but the train suffered from some poor operating leading to unnecessary delays.
