Main line steam hauled excursions to Worcester usually have a scheduled stay of about four hours in the city. It can be entertaining to watch the comings and goings involved in turning the steam locomotive in the Worcester area but normally I choose to visit the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway for a few hours during the early afternoon. On Saturday 27th August 2022 I knew from the website that the expected locomotives were 7903 FOREMARKE HALL, 35006 PENINSULAR AND ORIENTAL S.N. Co. and D5081. You cannot be sure that this roster is always possible and it is never guaranteed that they will work the allotted trains. Everything ran according to plan but the delay to the main line train meant that we were unable to see 35006 working chimney first at the head of its train. Never mind! 7903 is a much more appropriate locomotive for this location and the diesel is also very interesting to see for a change.
