Wednesday 5th September 2018 was the first day of service trains on the GCR since the announcement of the death of Bill Ford. Ivatt Class 2 2-6-0 46521 ran with an appropriate wreath on the smokebox door and, although there were not many on the lineside, there was an opportunity to share with those that passed me some thoughts and memories of a man that made an incredible contribution to our railway over many decades.
