I have regretted ever since 1967 that I did not witness directly the end of steam traction on the Southern region. For many years I have failed to visit the trains that have run to commemorate the anniversary due to various reasons. No such excuse on 9th July 2021. The right locomotive, 35018, was always facing in the right direction when hauling the train. OK, the shooting plan was over ambitious but it was a very enjoyable day. It was very long and tiring but I had absolutely no regrets.
