The 2025 GCR Winter Steam Gala was a four day event involving three guest locomotives and an interesting selection from the home fleet. As usual there were very frequent passenger and goods trains running along the double track on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Thursday featured the three visitors, each working three round trips, with the last service double-headed. Unfortunately, circumstances conspired to restrict my attendance to just over a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon. However, that gave probably the best conditions for photography over the whole four days. Of course, the lineside along Rushey Lane was packed but I managed to secure a vantage point that gave excellent views of up trains. Why not sit down and watch the trains go by without the need to jostle for position in the crowd?
