The weather forecast for Loughborough on Saturday 7th October 2017 was poor and so I judged a rest day a wise choice prior to returning for more photographs of the GCR Autumn Steam Gala on Sunday 8th October. Main-line options were also ruled out by early/late running and poor weather. At last it was realised that the Standard 5 was not fit to run, (we could have told them that weeks ago), and unfortunately a diesel had to substitute on some workings. These were mostly freights or stock moves which often make the most interesting photographs, but who could complain about the black stormy sky shot I obtained with the 15:30 up from Loughborough!
