The 2021 GCR Autumn Steam Gala ran over four days starting on Thursday 30th September. As usual the first day was something of a warm up prior to the real pressure over the weekend. However both visiting guest locomotives were in operation with a service involving nine passenger departures from Loughborough between 10:00 and 16:00. In my opinion this first day provided the easiest photographic opportunities with significantly fewer visitors and it normally avoids the silly combinations of stock and locomotives that event organisers seem to think enthusiasts like us enjoy. Only double headed 9Fs on six coaches stretched my imagination beyond its limits!
