On Saturday 12th October 2024 Vintage Trains promoted an excursion name Cathedrals Express to Lincoln from Birmingham New Street. The departure time from Birmingham was convenient for a short trip from home to a couple of locations in Leicestershire but it would be nearly dark by the time it left Lincoln for the return. So, the logic was for a couple of hours in the morning and make better use of the rest of the day. The train ran close enough to time but the weather was very disappointing with that kind of drizzle that penetrates everywhere. Fortunately, my tripod mounted umbrella seems to have avoided any damage to my cameras. Nothing exceptional recorded but it was good to see 5043 EARL OF MOUNT EDGCUMBE hard at work on the old LMR.
