On Saturday 2nd December 2017 a "Cathedrals Express" was advertised to run steam hauled from Southend to Alresford. Before leaving home I checked that the schedule had been activated and realtimetrains website gave no indication of likely problems. Only long after reaching the lineside did I learn that the train was running approximately two hours was late and should not reach Virginia Water until after the Pullman had passed. Nothing could be done except wait and see!
