This is not a badly timed going away shot of a main-line steam excursion but confirmation that the Vintage Trains tour from Tyseley to Melton Mowbray and Corby was worked in top & tail formation. The tail locomotive was LMS Princess Coronation Class 7P 4-6-2 6233 DUCHESS OF SUTHERLAND with just sufficient steam to maintain a positive pressure in the cylinders to prevent dirt being draw down the blast pipe and carbonising the oil.
