Instead of going to Quorn Station or negotiating the pot-holes down Kinchley Lane I decided to go to Loughborough to determine which locomotive would work the diner. The sight of the Stanier tender just visible in Platform 2 could mean only 8F which was still facing north. A hasty change of plan said do the ECS for the 11:45 "Santa Express" leaving Loughborough, head back to Birstall to see the train there again but from the other side of the line and then return to Loughborough to watch the ECS manoeuvres for the 13:50 ex-Quorn. Most of this plan didn't work as intended but this shot of 73156 with the ECS for the 11:45 train worked very well indeed.
