"The Scotsman's Salute" was a special train that ran on 11th January 2019 in connection with the late Sir William McAlpine. The northbound run was steam hauled by 60103 FLYING SCOTSMAN which was at one time owned by Sir William and was rescued by him from the United States of America. The return run was behind the Class 90 electric locomotive that was named after him this day in York.
