The first steam hauled excursion of 2018 did not take place until Saturday 27th January 2018 when 45699 GALATEA replaced the advertised 45690 LEANDER on a Manchester to Carlisle and return "Cumbrian Mountain Express". After a very wet and windy start with dense fog in the Lune Gorge and on Shap, the weather improved and a successful afternoon ensued.
