Sunday 3rd September was the last day of the 2023 summer season of “Shakespeare Express” trains. After many poor days in July and August this was a day not to be missed and an opportunity to visit another couple of locations that I had not used in 2023. The bridge by the M40 near Lowsonford has sufficient tree cover to avoid the motorway completely and the route to the curve between Hatton West and Hatton North Junctions is so overgrown as to be almost impassable. I had hoped it might be CLUN CASTLE on this last day but, once more, it was EARL OF MOUNT EDCUMBE that was deployed. Both are great to see but preferably not double headed!
