"The Cathedrals Express" on Saturday 15th September 2018 was effectively a "Cumbrian Coast Express". It was electric hauled down from Euston to Carlisle and up from Carnforth to Euston restricting the steam section to Carlisle to Carnforth via the coast. Steam ran early as strike action caused cancellation of the service trains and the pathing stops along the single line sections were not required.
