Sunday 13th August 2023 was again a day with a poor weather forecast but I thought there was a reasonable chance I could dodge the showers and photograph “The Shakespeare Express” on both return trips between Stratford and Birmingham. Having seen the train several times in 2023, I tried to vary my locations in order not to be too repetitive. At Dorridge, I chose to be antisocial and not join the group that had assembled in the usual place on the down side of the bridge but stood alone to try the up side for a change. Even at Stratford, I secured a place at the end of Platform 1 to photograph the locomotive as it ran round the coaching stock. It over-ran the stopping point by about a metre and then the sun came out causing lens flare with the very short hood I had selected. Finally, I returned to near the top of Wilmcote bank for the first time in many years. More overgrown than I remembered, but still a very good viewpoint if you don’t mind the walk on the canal tow-path.
