On Thursday 18th January 2018 I had business in Ruddington. I took the opportunity to visit the Northern section of the GCR to have a brief look around. As I expected the diesel locomotives are impressive in appearance and variety but the steam collection is disappointing with several small industrial locomotives under repair and the impressive LMS 8F 2-8-0 withdrawn from traffic awaiting repairs.
