In previous weeks I had missed the locomotives heading for Quorn where they would stand on public display. On Sunday 9th August 2020 I arrived early and waited. There were many sounds from the Loughborough area but time passed without any departure until well after the empty carriage stock was due to leave. When the two display locomotives appeared it was clear that D123 was doing all the work, propelling 92214 at no more than walking pace all the way to Quorn. It took seemingly for ever because the 9F was compressing air in the cylinders, was not in steam and so neither the drain cocks nor the lubrication system could be working properly. That's no way to run a railway!
