My intention had been to take my first photograph of FLYING SCOTSMAN at Culham but everything went wrong after I overslept by over an hour. I drove to Oxford knowing that I could not see the train before it arrived in the city so I made for Oxford Parkway Station. I’ve never been there before, it’s very new surrounded by road works and inadequately signposted with regard to where to park, how long you can stay and how much it costs. Judging that they were too embarrassed by the magnitude of the fees to display them, I found street parking a considerable distance away and set off to walk. To my great surprise I reached the overbridge seconds before the train and grabbed this shot as 60103 approached.
