My visit to the Cotswolds on Saturday 8th April 2023 turned out to be very different to my original plan. With the Supermarkets having to close for Easter Sunday, it took me twice the normal time to complete my weekend shop. There were then serious delays due to roadworks that had not been cleared for the Bank Holiday, the result of which was I had insufficient time to visit the GWSR before the main-line excursion was due to pass Standish Junction. It was only when I arrived that I discovered the main-line train was running nearly forty minutes late and out of path. After seeing 61306 MAYFLOWER I headed for the GWSR to photograph the final two trains of the day on the northern part of the line from Stanton Road bridge. I had only just joined the B4077 road to Toddington when I hit a very deep pot-hole that deflated both near-side tyres. They were run-flats so I could continue at much reduced speed to photograph my trains. Getting home was another storey and the car is still with BMW Cheltenham. They could keep it for a modest sum! I don’t want to see it ever again!
