On Saturday 16th May 2026, The Railway Touring Company was able to run its Buxton Spa Express rail-tour from Ealing Broadway to Buxton and return with steam haulage north of Leicester in both directions. Motive power was provided by Stanier Class 5MT 4-6-0 44871 with a West Coast Railway Class 47 diesel electric at the rear for support if required and to assist with manoeuvres at Buxton. I had a family event later in the day, so I planned to photograph only the outbound train before it reached the Hope Valley. It was as well I went no further because the return from Buxton was delayed severely.
