The four day 2026 Winter Steam Gala on the Great Central Railway took place between January 22nd and 25th. There were two visiting locomotives, 92134 and 34072; both having visited the line in the fairly recent past. Also build as a visitor was Austerity 0-6-0 Saddle Tank, works number 3809, that is at present carrying NCB No.18. This is technically home based but has been away on long term loan. The weather forecast was awful with Saturday looking best. As I usually do, I ventured out in the rain on Thursday morning as that provides opportunity to see and photograph the visitors when the trains and lineside are relatively quiet. My judgement was sound; rain in the morning had almost stopped by lunchtime and the afternoon was essentially dry but very dull. I believe I had to wind the ISO up to 6400 to continue taking pictures!
