We arrived in the Hellifield area in very good time, even allowing time to survey some proposed locations. As planned we settled (pun intended) on the Otterburn road bridge to await the arrival of 1Z43, "The Settle to Carlisle & Jorvik Pullman" formed from the HST set with power cars 43 046 and 43 055 in Midland Pullman style. Imagine our surprise and frustration when this unit, 158 797, appeared at the time when the Pullman was due.
