The GCR Diesel Galas are always worth attending and I could not resist returning for more shots on the morning of Sunday 5th September 2021. Trains started running unusually early for the GCR and I hoped to see the full spectrum of motive power with the possible exception of the visiting Deltic. I was surprised that something had gone wrong and the Deltic worked the 10:30 from Loughborough instead of the Class 50. I even had time to see it working the return with the 11:15 from Leicester North. I then left to travel to the Birmingham area to see "The Shakespeare Express" hauled by 7029 CLUN CASTLE. I did not discover whether or not 50 017 ROYAL OAK had been withdrawn from the Gala.
