The original programme for steam excursions on Saturday 18th June 2016 was most encouraging but a combination of locomotive failures, management errors, curtailments due to the threat of line-side trespass and diesel replacements meant that the only sensible option was "The Belmond British Pullman", through the Surrey Hills. It provided a further opportunity to see 34046 BRAUNTON, running as 34052 LORD DOWDING, in genuine Southern territory including some authentic infra-structure.
