Bank Holiday Monday, 27th August 2018, was expected to be a good day according to the weather forecast. It was dull but dry when we left to see the train but as we arrived at Gargrave for the fist shot it began to rain for the diesel stage. The first steam shot was to be at Selside and by the time we arrived it was pouring with rain and blowing a gale. Furthermore the expected locomotive, GALATEA, had been replaced by 48151! Typical of West Coast but let's not complain for that would give Mr. Smith pleasure and a sense of satisfaction. The return from Carlisle was just about fine at low levels but conditions in the hills looked very doubtful. Surely Tuesday would be better?
