The first mainline steam excursion of 2020 took place on Saturday 25th January when 35018 BRITISH INDIA LINE headed "The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express" northbound over the S & C then returning via the West Coast Main Line to Carnforth. The day was fine but largely dull. The journey north was marred by a total failure to run to the allocated schedule with the train over half an hour late at one stage followed by arrival in Carlisle nearly twenty minutes early!
