It was always my intention to visit the Great Central Railway to photograph BAHAMAS before it was taken out of service for overhaul at Tyseley. The question was should it be Saturday 11th or Sunday 12th October 2025? I made a big mistake in choosing Sunday as low cloud and fog, rather than mist, caused issues throughout the morning and into the early afternoon. I kept taking photographs and have tried to retain images that reflect the real conditions and not allow AI to distort reality. I was pleased to find that BAHAMAS ran two trains, one with “THE THAMES-CLYDE EXPRESS” and the other with “THE MANCUIAN” headboards. Unlikely to have occurred in BR days but just possible when allocated to Carlisle Upperby and then Stockport if borrowed by Kingmoor and Longsight in emergency.
