The first movement I observed at Fielding Road, Birstall, was Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 92214 returning to Loughborough with the DALEX train. After a long delay, eventually the 10:20 up from Loughborough rounded the curve hauled by tender first 8F 48305 that had not even been listed on the roster. After the usual slow run-round the Stanier 2-8-0 could be heard all the way from Leicester North with steam escaping through the cylinder drain. The 11:05 down was twenty minutes late!
