Have you ever had one of those days when you thoroughly enjoyed your photography but end up disappointed with the results? And there was no one to blame but yourself! Saturday 12th December 2020 was one of those days when I was out to see the HST version of the Midland Pullman. I set up the cameras badly; I pressed the shutter release at the wrong time; I let go too soon or didn't hold it down for long enough. You could sum it up by saying I didn't prepare properly. But, what a train! I'd love to do it all again and hope to do it better.

On further reflection, I have no doubt that you are being far too hard on yourself. Full marks for your honesty but 999 photographers out of 1000, would not have published these "mistakes", indeed, if they even qualify for that description. You were trying to phot a train travelling, at very high speed. That will always be very hit and miss, when the train is close to you. It is the sort of exercise that needs a lot of practice and then you would still need to fall back, on a good quality motordrive.
Yes I have had a similar day, on more than one occasion and probably went home with less than you did. Further comments, on the individual pictures to follow, when I have gathered my thoughts.
