We make our plans from the best information we can get about the trains we hope to photograph. That is becoming less easy with non-disclosure of details by operators and sometimes late cancellations. On Saturday 28th I planned to photograph the HST formation that was working a trip around the East Midlands from Ilkeston through Nottingham then Chesterfield, Sheffield, Derby and Leicester to London St. Pancras. The return was after dark so I thought the GCR was the best option later in the day. My plan was two shots at Tapton Junction and then Cossington; all before eleven o’clock! I should add that since I have my new/old Photoshop I would use the Hasselblads. Oh! What a nightmare was about to unfold.
