Saturday 12th November 2022 was a typical autumn day with the exception that temperatures were significantly above seasonal average values. With main line running in disarray there was little to tempt me from yet another day at the GCR. Next Weekend it will be “The Last Hurrah” mini-gala, otherwise known as “The Last Laugh” or “The Last Chance” depending on your personal feelings for the GCR. In truth it has often provided a chance to see and photograph several GCR locomotives before they enter hibernation for the winter. You can never tell but sometimes, like this time, there are unadvertised surprises!
