With nothing running on the main line that tempted me I decided to visit the GWSR on Saturday 28th May 2022. It was the second day of their Beer Festival which, of course, is of no interest to me whatsoever but it meant that the DMU was making lots of shuttles. I had no idea what steam locomotives would be in operation until I arrived but south facing 35006 PENINSULAR AND ORIENTAL S.N. Co. and north facing 7903 FOREMARKE HALL were probably my first and second preferences from the home fleet. The Class 117 DMU is, of course, an all time favourite after my years commuting into Paddington from Theale in 1970-2. Good day, good weather and interesting company made the day most enjoyable.
