It was one of those "should I go or not days" for the steam hauled section of "The Hadrian" on Saturday 27th May 2017. Timings not published on uksteam until the train was running, uncertainty about the motive power and a weather forecast involving torrential rain and thunderstorms leading to traffic disruption. In the end it was worthwhile with 46233 DUCHESS OF SUTHERLAND looking good throughout and the horse drawn caravans heading to the Appleby Horse-fair were more disruptive than the weather!
