To commemorate the life of Alan Pegler FLYING SCOTSMAN worked a special train from Kings Cross to York on Saturday 13th October 2018. Between London and Stoke Summit everything went well but a long unscheduled stop at High Dyke followed by an extended water stop in Carleton Loop and a fast diverted run on the East Coast Main Line from Doncaster destroyed the northern half of the run. Whether or not the very stong wind had any role to play I doubt we shall ever know. The return was diesel hauled throughout.
