It is hard to imagine a worse day for a main-line steam outing than this. Snow, sleet, rain and a biting north-easterly wind. The locomotive performed perfectly and the train effectively ran to time throughout my period of observation. What went wrong in the Northampton area on the return journey I have no idea. My only disappointment arose from the very late release of times - presumably the Scotsman factor has for no good reason transferred to Tornado.
