I made a short visit to the GCR on Sunday 18th February 2024. My main reason for visiting was to collect my copy of Dave Bowers book, “Rail Vehicle Testing” that has effectively been on order for about fifteen months. Of course, I could not visit the railway without pointing a camera or two at trains that passed. In fact, it was the ideal opportunity to put one of my Hasselblads back into service after the problems from last September. They might not take better photographs than my Canon6D and NikonDf cameras but they give me more pleasure. And that’s what this hobby is about – my enjoyment entirely! If anyone else gets pleasure from my images then that’s also great but very much secondary. Next weekend, February 24th and 25th 2024 has been announced as the last when 92214 will be operational before withdrawal for a major overhaul. To see and photograph it in decent weather conditions was therefore a real bonus. At present the forecast for next weekend lies between awful and diabolical!
