The first steam hauled Belmond "British Pullman" in 2020 ran on Saturday 8th February behind the usual motive power Merchant Navy Class 8P 4-6-2 35028 CLAN LINE. As we have come to expect the entire train looked immaculate and overall time keeping was exemplary. Something clearly went wrong, as some 13 minutes were lost between Shalford and Gomshall Summit, but we may never hear the full story. I just hope the rumour about line-side trespass is proved to be incorrect.
