The Great Central Railway restarted public services on the weekend of Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th April 2021 when Covid-19 restrictions allowed. Trains operated in an identical manner to those in 2020 with one steam locomotive working four round trips between Quorn and Birstall with cleaning and sanitizing during empty carriage journeys between Quorn and Loughborough. I leave my general assessment of the day to the lady managing refreshments when I called at Butler Henderson's for a bacon cob and asked if they had had a successful weekend. Her reply was completely positive. They had been very busy throughout both days and the visitors were all obviously so happy to be out enjoying themselves. You can't say better than that - well done GCR!
