A landslip at Elland meant a diversion via Hipperholme (always a hell hole) through Halifax to regain the Calder Valley. Sowerby Bridge was out but I still had hopes for Copy Pit before traffic control through Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge ruined that attempt also. Lunch was taken on the M65 but I decided to skip Hoghton also and head straight to Kearsley. So with one location out of five my grand plan was in tatters! It wasn't until I reached Kearsley that I learned that the steam excursion had left Blackburn a quarter of an hour late and further delays made it almost half an hour late approaching Chorley. This photograph shows 2nd generation DMU 150 270 working 2K89, the 14:17 from Southport to Alderley Edge, on Saturday 29th February 2020.
