With only five days remaining before our friends membership expired I thought it was appropriate to make a first, and last, trip by train along the Mountsorrel Branch. For a very reasonable discount fare the intention was to use the main line steam service from Loughborough to Quorn, transfer to the DMU for the outward run to Knuckley Hill for a lunch break at Granites. Then take the next DMU service out to Mountsorrel Station before returning to Quorn via Rothley. The day would be complete with a round trip on the 15:00 ex-Loughborough to Leicester North and back. Everything worked perfectly but operational problems around midday caused a few worries. See the pictures for more details. The day reminded me of why I prefer to photograph from the lineside!
