Soon after I arrived at London Road Tunnel, Carlisle, on Saturday 24th July 2021 this busy scene began to unfold. First, and without warning, 60163 TORNADO exited the tunnel with the empty stock of the Northern Belle at the same time that a Class 158 DMU was approaching Petterill Bridge Junction from the Newcastle direction. 57 313 SCARBOROUGH CASTLE was coupled at the rear of the "Northern Belle" empty stock and 158 844 formed 2N17, the 11:55 from Morpeth to Carlisle.
