I have never seen the Peak District as busy as it was on Sunday 24th October 2021. Hathersage and Grindleford were ruled out as too busy and so I headed to one of my usual haunts at the site of the former Beauchief Station where I was unexpectedly the first to arrive albeit an hour before the train was due. Rail traffic was very busy and the steam special was held at Dore while two Manchester bound service trains crossed onto the single line connection. I thought the passage of this service, 1F07 the 10:30 from London St. Pancras to Sheffield formed with Super-Voyager set 222 003, would allow the steam to access the main line into Sheffield. I was wrong as 1R56, the 11:56 from Grantham to Sheffield, was also allowed ahead.
