This second photograph of the 12:35 ‘Santa Special’, taken on Saturday 17th December 2022, showed Birmingham RC&W Type 3 Bo-Bo diesel electric D6535 passing Rushey Fields Farm. I was very surprised to find that the steam locomotive at the back was BR Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 92214. Perhaps BR Standard Class 5MT 4-6-0 73156 had failed and the 9F was a hasty substitute. It would explain the late running; but what would haul the diner?
