This picture should not be on public display but it demonstrates just how variable events were on Saturday 17th March 2018. I had waited 45 min north of Penrith in the expectation that 45699 GALATEA would pass with "The Cathedrals Express". Most of the time it was sunny but very cold with a strong biting easterly wind. However there were frequent heavy snow showers when the light intensity dropped through the floor and sheep, being more sensible than railway photographers, headed for cover. Then, with no audible warning, the train came into view and the sheep made a dash for it. My fingers were too cold to find the camera switch and shutter button in time.
