When I arrived at Settle Junction the local lineside pundits were busy debating whether the "Staycation" would run ahead of or behind the "Hadrian" and if it would be possible to reach Shap before the "Northern Belle". I was committed to remain until after FLYING SCOTSMAN had passed. When the S & C line advanced starter cleared it would be good whatever came. I was happy and impressed to see The Staycation Express" start its journey along the full length of the Settle and Carlisle line on Saturday 24th July 2021.
