Sunday 9th October 2022 was forecast to be another fine day in the East Midlands that I thought would be suitable for yet another visit to photograph trains on the GCR. The website eventually showed motive power to be 46521, 78018 and D6700; all very appropriate and suitable for the normal service. With the steam locomotives facing in opposite directions there would be periods of fairly intense activity and a couple of long intervals without anything to photograph. GCR trains are often disrupted by DALEX operations, small capacity tenders that require replenishment when turn-around times are short and unforeseen circumstances that cannot be identified by the lineside observer. But the trains continue to run, provide us with entertainment and enjoyment and, for that, we should be most grateful.
