There was no reason to expect that the 12:00 diesel hauled service from Loughborough to Leicester North should run late on Sunday 9th October 2022. But it did and somehow I managed to miss taking my planned two photographs! The next part of my day involved a pre-lunch visit to Woodthorpe bridge. Unfortunately, “the Farmer”, as we know him, has replaced his illegal ‘road closed’ signs and bollards at both ends of the lane. The first photograph showed BR Standard Class 2 2-6-0 78018 hauling the still late running 12:05 from Leicester North to Loughborough. This ensured that both the 12:50 and 13:00 departures from Loughborough had to run late unless precedence was given to the 13:00 with minor change to the viaduct stop at Swithland.
