"The Yorkshireman" on Saturday 30th June 2018 saw a return to main line service after a few weeks absence for 60103 FLYING SCOTSMAN. The train required diesel assistance due to very high fire risk following several days of exceptional hot dry weather. The diesel, 47 580 COUNTY OF ESSEX, was coupled inside for the outward journey and did all the serious work. It returned south alone with the train in the afternoon as planned since 60103 had further commitments in the north.
