On August Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August 2020, the civil engineers took possession of the GCR track north of Quorn in order to replace a life expired bridge. The passenger services were replaced with a pair of two car DMU sets running return trips between Nunckley Hill, Rothley and Leicester North. Passengers could board at either Nunckley Hill or Rothley but remained with the unit throughout their trip as a 'bubble' in Covid-19 terms.
